probably not a popular opinion on here....and haven't been actively attending meetings since 1988....(i know i know a submarine attender) however thoroughly enjoyed attending this evening...was good to see lots of people i remember whilst growing up in this faith, they were genuine and the whole atmosphere was one of love.

sure if i suddenly wanted to become active again and didn't change my lifestyle they would drop me like a bomb.....however i haven't and won't and they didn't and don't.

this works for me.. i cannot demonize the witnesses on what i have seen tonight.

i just read the amazon (UK) listing for this book--and was rather amused to see the write up about it was by someone with the same name as my late (JW ) father.

How Do They Chose Someone To Be A Member Of The Illustrious Governing Body?

i'm mean were talking making someone a policy maker for the corporation that can have serious financial consequences.

i'm sure intelligence is not high on the priority list for this noble office being they hate higher education and consider it a waste of time.. i'm sure they would thoroughly know the party line as any self respecting mind control would never choose an original thinker.

i'm also sure a lot of ass kissing happens before one gets chosen as a ass wiping helper which seem to be a sort of initiation into governing body corporate politics and a sort of proving ground to show your determination protect the organization from the enemy be they what ever source.

why dont women do public talks ? become elders ? ministerial servants ?

i'm surprised the watchtower dont insist on seperate seating areas at assemblies--and even seperate rooms in the KH.... for brothers and the sisters.

today the "anointed" sister that drops off tracts at my house, did a little i'll just stop by and show her a website about furniture and then offer the memorial tract visit.. her exhusband is a jw that did terrible things to her by taking property, didn't want to pay adequate child support and had the elders on his side.

she was telling me all about how, because he felt so guilty, now he had intestinal problems.

eventually the conversation ended and she offered the memorial tract to me.. "did you get an invitation?

my late father was a dub for 50+years.

i left the cult in my 20's...but he ( and mom) never shunned me. mom tried to get me interested in going back at one stage..but then gave up and left me alone. she died 20 years ago.

over the next few years, dad and i sometimes discussed specific cult subjects..and i do believe he wasnt at all convinced with some of it.

but the thought of being with mom again in the brave new world swayed the balance of belief and he stayed a dub. but his last 3 years in a care home saw visits from dub friends dwindle to nothing. i would have taken him to the memorial thing if he had asked..his grand daughter and her husband never went near him or offered to take him to meetings. i think towards his end he was a very embittered man. i was by then all he had left.

in the UK, illegal immigrants have made legal immigration a very expensive process. my wife is a filipina, and its costing £thousands in visa fees for her to be with me.

Oh year, I forgot one! You have to be a "spiritual man." It took me years to figure out what that meant. Doing all the JW tasks required, without complaining.
